Each year, the French Embassy organizes a number of academic contests for middle school and high school students across the U.S. In some cases, contests are limited to a specific region, while others are open to students nationwide. These contests give students a chance to apply their French skills to creative projects and share them with their community. Participating schools receive prizes. Individual winners receive a prize and a special diploma.
If you are a teacher and would like to participate in one of our school contests with your class, please create an educator account on frenchculture.org. This will allow you to post contest entries by your students. Each entry will appear with the student's name, school, and teacher.

We are pleased to announce the second contest twittérature of the Americas to be held from the 1st to the 29th of February 2016. The Centre de la francophonie in the Americas, in collaboration with the Institute of Comparative twittérature, invites you to participate by tweeting the theme "Améripoésie". We are launching this challenge to primary and secondary school students, college students and universities (PSE) and adults with French as their native language or second. Francophone America is one of the most vibrant language communities and the most original of all. Present from north to south in the Americas, from Baffin Island to Patagonia, the community of French speakers brings together more than 33 million people. The second contest of the Americas twittérature wants to witness the presence and commitment of Francophones and Francophiles using micro blog Twitter as poetic creation space. Going against gossip usually found in social media, the competition wants to serve as a reminder that French is a beautiful language which lends itself to all forms of expression, including on Twitter. By launching this competition, the Centre de la francophonie in the Americas affirms that the French language is, in America, a tool of culture and shared imaginary; and, through it, poetry contributes to the strengthening of linguistic complicities, aesthetic and imaginary.READ MORE
